At risk of losing heritage status

LEESAN was right in his assessment of the efforts to maintain the heritage sites in Malacca “Heritage lost?” (Star 2 Travel, The Star, Sept 24).

Having been involved with the Malacca Historical Society long before Malacca was listed as a heritage site by Unesco in 2008, and maintained with amendments in 2011, I strongly believe there is a lack of passion and commitment among the decision-makers to continue to protect the heritage properties and mount an enhanced programme of continued conservation of heritage buildings in the area.
