Heavy vehicles a nuisance on the highways

THE Road Transport Department (JPJ) has been issuing summonses recently to drivers of heavy vehicles caught speeding on the fast lane of major highways.

I congratulate them for doing so but how long are they going to do this? Is this a one-off operation or will it be on-going?

Secondly, can the police and JPJ restrict commercial vehicles especially heavy lorries from driving on major highways like the Federal Highway during peak hours?

I think there is a law for this but it’s not being implemented.

Thirdly, can the authorities take action on drivers/owners of concrete transport trucks that are leaving concrete on the roads leading to construction sites in Kuala Lumpur and other major towns?

Drivers of the trucks are not bothered at all if concrete flows out of the drum when they are going up elevated roads or at traffic lights. Is it so difficult to take action on them?

Please take care of our roads and highways because our loved ones are using them every day.
