I AGREE with Tan Sri Razali Ismail, the new chairman of the Human Rights Commission (Suhakam) who, in his interview with The Star, said that parliament has a responsibility to debate the report of the commission when it is tabled annually so that the public can hear from their elected representatives the state of human rights in Malaysia, “A diplomatic approach to human rights” (Sunday Star, July 31).
As the voice of the people, parliamentarians have a duty to articulate their views openly and the most suitable place to do so is parliament.
