Seek medical treatment for depression

THE report on the suicide of the school teacher saddened me, “Dead teacher leaves note to care for his dogs” (The Star, July 12). He was a hardworking and good teacher and even gave extra classes to his pupils. He was only 49 years old and hadn’t passed the prime of his life.

I can only presume that depression was the root cause, as in most suicide cases. It’s very important that those suspected of suffering from depression or anxiety disorders should seek early medical treatment as they could easily become suicidal.
