More bite against illegal wildlife trade

I REFER to your front-page report “Gunning for poachers” (The Star, May 30). Our Natural Resources and Environment Ministry seriously needs to review its outdated laws on illegal poaching and trafficking of animals in our Malaysian jungles.

The barbaric act of illegal poaching has become so rampant due to our shortage of wildlife rangers and their being ill-equipped, carrying only a parang to defend themselves against the dangerous poachers or organised crime groups.
