Be eyes and ears of the police

YESTERDAY, the local press carried reports of Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar reiterating the fact that the terrorist threat in Malaysia is real and that police would remain proactive in dealing with it. This was in response to the terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium a day earlier.

Malaysians have enjoyed a long period of peace and tranquillity after the Emergency from 1948 to 1960. During the colonial rule and subsequently after independence, specific policies were implemented to fight the communist terrorists. Notable among them was the Internal Security Act (ISA), which acted as a powerful tool against terrorism.
