Levy hike good for unemployed graduates and school-leavers

THE move by the Government to increase the levy for foreign workers will provide more job opportunities to local graduates and SPM school-leavers who are unemployed. The hiring of foreign workers was always meant as a short-term measure in the first place.

The hiring and managing of foreign workers is anticipated to become more difficult in future due to the weaker exchange rate, higher salaries offered by neighbouring countries, implementation of the TPPA and stricter international labour laws and code of conduct audited by foreign embassies and NGOs.
