IN Malaysia, the Competent Driver’s Licence (CDL) can be renewed for one to five years with no age limit. Those who wish to drive commercial vehicles must be above 21 years of age, possess a CDL and obtain an additional Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence for buses and taxis, or a Goods Driving Licence (GDL) for lorries and vans, again with no age limit.
However, very few people are aware that insurance companies impose conditions and even withdraw cover for drivers above 65 years old.
