Ministry should regulate MCOs and TPAs

I REFER to the letter “Panel doctors feeling the squeeze” (The Star, Jan 16). The Medical Practitioners Coalition Association of Malaysia (MPCAM) has received many grouses from doctors on Managed Care Organisations (MCOs) and Third Party Administrators (TPAs) managing the payment of health bills of consumers from corporate bodies.

The writer’s claim that doctors are being forced to pay RM2,500 in order to be appointed as a panel clinic for a well-known institution of higher learning is disturbing.
