Don’t forget the retired servicemen

IN the last salary review and adjustment for the civil service, police and soldiers, the Prime Minister announced a RM200 increase in the basic salary across the board for all serving soldiers, but sadly left out the poor retired soldiers.

I would like to stress that the peace, security and harmony we are enjoying today is due to the sacrifices and contributions of soldiers in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. We fought the communists and in the Indonesian confrontation. There were times soldiers on duty in the jungle did not get to see sunlight for months.
