In remembrance of dedicated paediatricians

TO many, the past week was just another week. To the relatively small paediatric fraternity of about 700 nationwide, divided among the Health Ministry, universities and private sector, it was a sad week when two of our prominent colleagues passed away.

Datuk Dr N. Paramaesvaran, who served in Penang Island Hospital before retiring and joining his family in Sydney, passed away on Aug 17. He served in the Health Ministry before moving to Penang. He is most remembered for writing about dengue in Malaysia and indicating in those years that it would become a problem of epidemic proportions.
