Share stories of Malaysians coming together in spirit of harmony

YOUR report, “Uncle Ah San gets surprise visitors” (The Star, July 22), speaks volumes of caring Malaysians who go all out to prove that there is inter-racial friendship, goodwill and harmony despite all the negative reports of racial tension in our country.

The story featured a picture of Uncle Ah San, a 79-year-old man suffering from elephantiasis who experienced the warmth and sweetness of Hari Raya Aidilfitri when his Muslim friends of 17 years drove from Kuala Lumpur to visit him in his home in Penang. What a meaningful picture that was, and coming after the Low Yat fracas in Kuala Lumpur. Such goodwill is a much-needed commodity in our country especially among our youths and teenagers. The media should publish more such activities and pictures in the interest of inter-racial harmony in our multiracial nation.
