No need to wait for four years

I READ with disbelief that the Government’s approach on the compulsory implementation of child car seats is to put it on hold until 2019, citing “international standard practice” that you need to first educate the people, “Child car seats will be a must in four years” (The Star, June 12).

With due respect, I just cannot accept this reasoning. The Government should view the safety concerns of passengers, particularly infants and children, with priority.
