Handbag search violates my rights

I REFER to the letter “Are handbag searches necessary?” (The Star, June 9). I had a similar experience on April 16. I went to this cinema in a shopping complex in Petaling Jaya with my maid and son to watch the animated movie Home. I was carrying a clutch bag.

As I watched numerous patrons before me being subjected to handbag searches, I insisted that I should have been warned of this when I bought the tickets. Two employees of the cinema did the search. One had no name tag or uniform and refused to show any identification, claiming he did not have to.
