All must act to help protect wildlife

READING the “Malaysian mammals face extinction” article (The Star, April 14) might make many feel concerned about the future of our wildlife in Malaysia. This country is blessed with a rich biological diversity and we are proud of the many charismatic species that we have, like the tiger and Asian elephant.

These species are threatened mainly by loss of habitat and human exploitation. If we cannot even protect these mammal species, we can expect the worst for other smaller species.
