At the mercy of maids and babysitters

THE Third World’s largest abusers of children are the babysitters and maids. I once interviewed three-year-old kids and asked them how the maid got them to sleep early. To my shock and horror, they told me that the maid, as if playing, would poke their eyes, so much that the kids, not realising this was a form of abuse, were being forced to sleep!

I have been working with abused children for the past 33 years. In the process, I have interviewed many children who were abused either by the maids or babysitters.
