THE Malaysian Meteorological Department (MMD) has stated that the damages in Pandaraman on Oct 21 was due to strong winds from thunderstorms, while online video postings showed otherwise.
The “downdraft” from a thunderstorm always blows in one direction at a particular place, i.e. if the strong winds (from such downdraft) came from the north, then debris will be blown directly south. However, online video of the wind damage gave a different picture.
