I REMEMBER that many years ago the invert levels of roadside drains and the manholes (drain sumps) are the same, whereby the bottom level of the drain is the same as the bottom level of the sump next to it.
Subsequently, the Drainage and Irrigation Department had insisted that the manholes invert must be lower than the drain invert to serve as traps for debris.
