So good you can almost taste it

HI, I enjoyed reading about food in literature in last Sunday Star 2. I was rather taken aback that food in Enid Blyton’s books had such an overwhelming impact on young minds. I always thought I was one of the weird ones who could still recall the food items in her books, 50 years on!

I was also a little surprised that more recent books like Choclat by Joanne Harris and The Restaurant Of Love Regained by Ito Ogawa were not mentioned. Both writers deal with food in a memorable manner. Choclat brings out the richness of a simple ingredient and all the emotions enjoined by it. The mystique, the exotic, the exquisite taste and guilt trips are associated with chocolate in this book.
