BASED on the Health Ministry’s National Health and Morbidity survey 2011, at least 1.7% of adults had suicidal tendencies, 0.9% had planned to commit suicide and 0.5% had attempted suicide.
The suicide rates disclosed by the Health Ministry could be higher because these figures were based on post-mortem indicating there could be under-reporting.
