Education to defeat extremism

FOR the past few days we have read and heard of religious extremism leading to suicide bombers who are willing to fight for their cause in countries like Syria. They are “walking time-bombs” as Marina Mahathir describes them in her Musings column (The Star, July 3).

Unfortunately, these young Malaysians, including those from institutions of higher learning, are gullible and easily influenced and wooed by the extremist groups.
