I HAVE been involved in HIV/AIDS prevention and care for the last 12 years. The recent death reported in “Man told he had HIV kills himself” (The Star, April 10) could have been prevented if the right procedure was implemented when informing the patient of his HIV/AIDS status.
With today’s care and medication, people living with HIV/AIDS can live fruitful and long lives. To many, HIV/AIDS still sounds frightening and hopeless. To them, it means “no cure and death is near”.
