Shrimp farming and mangrove forests

I READ with concern “Bitter news at Kg Kuala Gula” (The Star, Feb 13) about 40,000ha of mangrove forest in the Kerian district in Parit Buntar being threatened by land clearing.

The only reason for this I think is that it is being cleared for shrimp farming. This is really sad.
