I JUST came back from Sri Aman in Sarawak where I was fortunate to witness a natural phenomenon, the Pesta Benak Sri Aman, also known as the Tidal Bore Carnival at the Batang Lupar river.
Tidal Bore, locally known as Benak, occurs almost daily with different wavelengths and heights. The waves can go as high as 3m and 5.5m and move rapidly at 10 to 15 knots upstream faster than the rushing tide.
