Own damage claim is a better option

I CAN empathise with the writer of “A real hassle making a simple claim” (The Star, Sept 9) as I was involved in a similar road accident several months ago.

Making an own damage (OD) claim would mean losing the no-claim-discount (NCD) and a third-party claim would be tedious and may not be worth the effort as compensation is often disappointing.
