Bring back teaching of morals and good values

I REFER to the report, “Gang members face arrest if found causing a nuisance warn Selangor cops” (The Star, Aug 27) in which the acting Selangor police chief Deputy Commissioner A. Thaiveegan in his advise to Indians involved in crime was quoted as saying, “Go to the temple and pray, read the Thirukkural which teaches the simplicity and truths of everyday life”.

When I attended Tamil school in the late 1940s, besides Thirukkural I was also taught from two other Tamil books Kondraventhan and Aathisoodi.
