Small token of appreciation over no sick leave goes a long way


I REFER to The Star report in which Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai proposed that employers reward workers who do not take sick leave with bonuses or other such tokens of appreciation.

These schemes had in fact started in the early 1980s when I was working at Equatorial Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. I was an employee who did not take any medical leave for one whole year, from January right up to the end of December.
