Use palm oil waste for biomass projects

I WISH to add to comments given by Ravindran Raman Kutty on “Time to fire a second salvo to defend palm oil” (The Star, Sept 3).

Oil palm produces palm oil and palm kernel oil which are widely used in food, detergents and cosmetics. Malaysia’s total palm oil production in 2008 was close to 25 million tonnes. We are the leading producer contributing about 52% of the world’s palm oil and 8.7% of the world’s oils and fats.
