Many reasons why children resort to violence

I REFER to the letters on gangsterism “Gangsterism starts in schools” (The Star, Aug 13) and “Parents are at fault if kids become gangsters” (The Star, Aug 16).

Both letters inevitably started the discussion of nature vs nurture, because the question boils down to whether the tendency starts at home or in school. Unfortunately, the problem is not that clear-cut.
