I REFER to an article in The Star with the heading “Keep teaching kids about road safety” (June 15).

The Road Safety Department would like to clarify that the teaching of Road Safety Education (RSE) in for Year Three, Five and Six pupils will commence by July.

For your information, the RSE modules and activity books are already at the schools pending clearance from the Education Ministry, while the teaching of RSE for Year One, Two and Four has commenced in all schools since 2007.

We assure you that road safety education in schools will continue in the future to create a safety first culture among our children.

SAHIPULHIJAIMAN SULAIMAN,

Director of Policy and Monitoring,

Road Safety Department.
