I REFER to the article “Ban on tortoise helmets soon,” (The Star, Dec 17). I am a helmet manufacturers and I wish to clarify some of the issues raised.
Firstly, all half-shell helmets are not allowed to be used on Malaysian roads because under the Road Transport Act, motorcyclists are supposed to wear Sirim approved helmets and half-shell helmets are not approved by Sirim.
