I REFER to the letter 'Let's shut out the racial instigators' (The Star, Sept 3).
I support his position with qualification. Bigotry must never be tolerated in any form or circumstance and the best way to ensure that bigotry is bred out is to have an open and honest discussion and that a majority of us will not accept nor tolerate this behaviour. Talking privately or behind closed doors is a sure fire way of allowing this disease to breed and spread.
Fear of dilution of culture, opportunities and positions is something everyone shares and is not limited to any one group or race.
There will always be economically challenged people in any group and it is the duty of those who have the means to extend assistance to them.
That goes for the Government of the day. This is the way to show that we have a caring society. A person should be judged by his action alone, not by race, creed or religion.
LUNG HIEN CHING,
Shah Alam.
