I REFER to Indelible ink to make its mark in The Star, Feb 1. The Election Commission (EC) has given in to the calls from the public to improve the system of voting in the country. These include the use of indelible ink and transparent polling boxes.

The use of indelible ink is be practical in India considering its huge electorate that runs into hundreds of millions, spread across a huge subcontinent with the vast majority of the voters poor and a high degree of illiteracy.
