LATELY, the news pages have been filled with accounts of road accidents involving buses, with unnecessary loss of lives. Thankfully, the Transport Ministry is cracking down hard on errant bus companies that hire drivers with dubious records.

Now, bus operators are running short of drivers and they predict that the shortage would create havoc with the balik kampung crowd for the coming Hari Raya celebrations. I can understand the plight of the bus companies and the potential loss of income.
