IT was shocking to read of the recommendation by the Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations (Fomca) to raise the price of sugar by 30sen per kg.

The prices of fuel, power, water and even municipal assessments and quit rents have gone up creating difficulties, surely Fomca does not want to aggravate matters for the man in the street further by asking for a price hike for this essential commodity.
