IN REFERENCE to the report, “Experts to study transgender issue,” (The Star, Nov 16) the All Women’s Action Society supports Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil’s stand on not punishing or discriminating against sexual minorities such as transsexuals, homosexuals, and bisexuals.

We believe that as a society, we need to be more understanding of the problems and issues these people face, not least of all as a marginalised group often confronted with physical and psychological violence.
