THE Malaysian Nature Society applauds the Federal Government’s move to block the development of the Lake Gardens and Federal Hill into a residential-cum-business area, “Ministry: No request to develop garden” (The Star, Sept 15).

This green area is priceless as it serves as the largest green lung within the Kuala Lumpur city centre. It plays multiple roles for the public, especially as a recreation and education area, nature conservatory and a tourist attraction.
