JAKARTA: Nur Fatah, a teenage boy from Peureulak, East Aceh, lost his father, Hanafiah, and two of his elder brothers during a battle in April 2003, and he immediately resolved to seek revenge.

“My father was a guerilla. He suffered from malaria and badly needed medicine. My big brothers were just trying to deliver the medicine to his camp in the jungle when the soldiers attacked,” Nur recalled as tears rolled down his face.
