AT the Donrak War Cemetery in Kanchanaburi, where nearly 7,000 prisoners of war are buried, visitors still leave flowers at headstones, nearly 60 years after the end of the Second World War.
Many foreign tourists go to Kanchanaburi for a host of other attractions – it is a backpacker’s and outdoor trekker’s delight, with some ancient ruins nearby to appeal to the more academic visitor.
