DATUK Mohd Zaman Khan never had much time to spend with his five children while they were growing up. He visited them regularly while they were away in residential schools, but it was mainly his wife who brought them up.

“I missed my children’s growing up years. That is why grandchildren are such gifts from God, and I now enjoy looking after them,” said the former Criminal Investigation Department chief more known for hunting down notorious criminals such as Bentong Kali and Mona Fandey. He was also at the forefront of headline-grabbing incidents such as quelling the prison riots in Pulau Jerejak, the hostage-taking siege at the Kuantan and Pudu prisons, and the Highland Towers search and rescue mission.
