IT’S outrageous. Malaysians who read about the RM300,000 beautification project in Penang, which included man-made hibiscus structures, have plenty of reasons to be infuriated.
Instead of planting real hibiscus, the national flower, the Penang Island Municipal Council has decided to put up artificial alternatives – grey plastic cylinders with a white hibiscus motif, topped by an aluminium hibiscus.
