LEGISLATION empowering the Government to fine teenage smokers and those who sell cigarettes to them should help to discourage those who may be tempted to pick up this addiction.

Health Minister Datuk Dr Chua Soi Lek said last week that under-18 smokers could be fined up to RM1,000 for the offence while those caught selling cigarettes would face a maximum RM10,000 fine or two years’ imprisonment.
