IT is high time that we as a society take full stock of what seems to be the current wave of violent crime in our midst. And after that, to respond swiftly and concertedly in the proper manner.
It is one thing to argue that no society is immune from crime, or that certain crimes – violent, sexual, or both in nature – have been sensationalised by the media. However, it is quite another to insist that the current spate of cruel, sadistic and senseless attacks does not merit serious and urgent action.
