Need to raise the quality of our water supply too

I REFER to your report, “Syabas likely to get water deal despite proposed tariff hike, (StarBiz, May 5)that Syarikat Bekalan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd will likely take over the contract for water supply in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

The raising of the water tariff by up to 45% should be justified with the quality of water that comes through our taps.

I have been living in SS3 for the past few years and I find the water quality, simply put, undrinkable. Another problem that we face is the frequent unannounced water cuts.

I hope the federal and state governments will conduct tests on the quality of water that would be provided by Syabas before allowing the increase in water tariff.
