I AM really fed up with the selfish and inconsiderate residents in my area. Many of them sure love gardening and go overboard – they take up the full road shoulder for their gardening plot.
Worse still, there are some who deliberately place flower pots and dustbins on the road shoulder to prevent drivers from parking their cars at “their plot of land”. I thought house ownership stops at the gate.
For residents who own more than one car, it is a daily headache hunting for a spot to park without blocking traffic. Luckily, there is a playground nearby that offers some parking space but it is not enough to cater to all the residents there.
Needless to say, on some mornings, we were all rudely awakened by the garbage truck which could not pass through because of the cars parked along the roadside. And the sleepy car owners had to rush out to move their vehicles.
There have been spats among the residents and I urge the Shah Alam city council to act. I believe there is a bylaw stating that flower beds or garden plots by the roadside should not take up the road shoulder completely. I enjoy plants and flowers too and they certainly improve the landscape, but please consider the needs of others – leave some space for others!
