SEOUL: Poultry farmers and related industries have jointly launched campaigns to rescue their devastated businesses, as the consumption of chicken and duck meat dropped to less than half in the past couple of months amid fears of the deadly bird flu.

Consumers are urged to ease their concerns and respond positively to the appeals of the industry, as the health authorities guarantee that the meat on sale here is safe and the virus is easily destroyed by heat.
