THE Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) welcomes the move by Health Ministry’s Director of Pharmacy Division Datuk Che Mohd Zin Che Awang to charge the manufacturer and distributor as well as to confiscate the illegal traditional medicinal tonic produced in a factory in Kedah, “Govt to ban direct sale of medicinal products” (The Star, Oct 15).

The MMA would like to urge the ministry to be more stringent in approving traditional medicine products to ensure safety and efficacy.
