MALAYSIANS seem oblivious to earthquakes. Of the 18 tremors since 1976, only one in 1972 caused some damage in Penang, but not enough to raise serious concern.
Earthquakes have come close, hitting Indonesia, particularly the island of Sumatra. Even then, we remain confident that Malaysia will not be affected.
