New approach to contain spread of AIDS

Community conversations, an approach adopted by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to tackle the HIV/AIDS epidemic, may help communities to identify their social problems and find the solutions, reports IVY SOON. 

RETIRED nurse Chong Chee Yong, who has been involved in health education for the past 30 years, has long suspected that conventional methods are not working too well. The concerns may vary, but the approach is usually to gather a group of people for awareness raising lectures followed by the distribution of pamphlets and perhaps a question-and-answer session.
