I READ with apprehension your report “Crackdown on pirated VCDs a boon to cinemas” (The Star, June 10), which quoted a film distributor as saying that the strategy to screen movies in Malaysia ahead of many other countries seems redundant now.
The implication, it seems to me, is that film distributors can now work less hard since the competition has been reduced and that consumers will have no choice but to wait for the originals.
